Jesse Reyes is a Piano and Harpsichord Technician, Pianist, and Composer. He holds a BFA from CalArts in piano performance and composition. During his studies began working on pianos with Alan Eder in order to deepen his relationship with the instrument as a pianist and composer, and continued in the profession upon graduating.
He has since gone on to work as a Piano Technician for Steinway & Sons, University of California Los Angeles, The Colburn School, and University of California San Diego, as well as many other dealers, institutions, festivals, and recording studios.
He was the second American to be awarded the title of Master Piano Artisan - a high-level title given by Kawai after training and examinations in Japan.
He maintains a special interest in contemporary music and alternative tuning practices, and has carried out extensive retuning work for recordings of his own music as well as works by Jack Dettling, Horațiu Rădulescu, and Wolfgang von Schweinitz.
